My experiments with the collagraph printmaking technique yield interesting and often surprising results. I want to challenge perceptions of printmaking as an art form that produces editions of prints at relatively small sizes. Measuring up to 1 metre in length, my largely abstract and heavily textured images are unique prints, made using plates built from everyday materials such as matchsticks and fabric edgings. These plates are deliberately fragile in nature – some elements loosen on the surface after just a few impressions, changing details in the image and contributing to the creation of truly unique prints.
