The artist is now a fulltime printmaker after retiring from a senior lecturer post at Manchester School of Art, he was born in South Yorkshire and has always based his work around an exploration of British landscape. The images are developed from sketchbook drawings made on site and enriched by further research into historical records of topographical and archaeological features found in the remoter areas of upland and coastline. Recent work is a result of a visit to Shetland and a project for the North York Moors National Park looking at trees in the Northern Landscape.
