Richard is based near Morecambe Bay on the Cumbrian coast. He is inspired by the northern landscape and how this has been transformed by the actions of climate and man. Trees shaped by the northern climate are a favourite subject, as are the cliffs and stacks of the northern coastline. Richard is currently developing new work based on the holmes or islands of the Lakes. Richard continues to explore Neolithic monuments – standing stones and circles – using profiled drypoint plates and blind embossing to evoke the mass of the stones and the elusive cup and ring marks they display.
