Since graduating from the Royal Academy Schools, via Croydon Art College and Trent Polytechnic Nottingham, sometime last century Martin has continued his artistic odyssey with diligence and enthusiasm.
Martin’s screen prints, a curious blend of realism and romanticism, skilfully present narratives inspired by ephemera, anecdotal evidence and apocryphal stories; flotsam and jetsam from the passing world.
Weaving together these disparate threads he creates, wistful, intriguing and melancholic images.
He favours a reduction method of screen printing. This involves him meticulously hand painting his stencils directly onto the screen using a combination of screen block and screen panting fluid.
