Drawing is central to my printmaking practice. I always begin with a drawing. Rough observational sketches to sort out composition and then a larger drawing to handle light and tone. Drypoint etching is my preferred medium of choice because it is about line and mark-making. I enjoy the way I can manipulate tone to create the mood and atmosphere I am striving for.
My work has a narrative that is often unsaid. I like to create a sense of unease, hinting at human presence or absence, ambiguity with mystery. Printmaking helps me refine my image making instincts.
