Laura Boswell

My work exists entirely within the tradition of the craft printmaker. I see no separation between my skills as a technician and my creative ideas. My ambitions are modest: I offer space, escape and a sense of scale and season through my landscape prints. They are no specific depiction of a particular place, more a response to its essence. I edit and select from observational drawing to arrive at my final composition. I respond layer-by-layer as I build the print, avoiding a set plan. It is this jeopardy that brings life to the print, forcing me to work flexibly without preconceptions.
