Jo McChesney

Jo McChesney specialised in print after graduating from Bath Academy of Art in 1985. She travelled to Japan to study Japanese woodblock printmaking, and combines her knowledge of traditional Japanese printing techniques with a distinctly western approach to image making. Seasonal change in the natural world is the source of inspiration for her prints, focusing on transient moments in time. Her latest work incorporates drypoint engraving besides woodcut, based on the theme of seeds and dispersal. Silent explosions of seeds are sucked into the thermal updraft and scattered, evoking the continual change and flux of new life.
