As all art is phenomenology (that which appears to the senses) artists are reporting on the truth, not truth itself. The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance. My subject is landscapes, showing the simplistic beauty of the land, the complexity and sophistication of nature and the relationship we have with our natural environment. Through collective practice and reflection, artists play a role in establishing a sustainable future: to show what can be and what ought to be. “We have art so that we shall not die of reality” – Nietzsche
