Emerson Mayes
Emerson Mayes is a painter and printmaker who produces honest and uncontrived work reflecting his obvious passion for painting, printmaking and the natural world. Over the last couple of years the pull of monotype has dominated Emerson’s work. Essentially a printed painting, it could be asked why go through the whole process for just one edition? That question is easily answered – the excitement of passing the work through the press and peeling the paper back from the plate to reveal those ‘happy accidents’ and unexpected results make monotypes a mystery and worth all the effort. During his career, Emerson has won a number of major awards and has exhibited in many solo shows, major group exhibitions and art fairs across the country and in London. His work can be found in public, private and corporate collections worldwide including the National Trust and the House of Lords.
