“My richly coloured and highly textured abstract prints are elemental expressions of mood, and are responses to a wide range of everyday materials. I approach image making as a direct response to materials selected for use on the printing plate. No sketches are used – I create plates in response to ‘what the material wants to do’. When printing, peeling the paper from the plate always quickens the pulse, in anticipation of the anomalies that usually occur – those exciting and surprising interactions of plate, ink press and paper.”
