Mark Wheatley

Creating graphic abstract prints, exploring form, texture and composition, the act of play is a central starting point in the development of my work. The juxtaposition of shapes, create unique and intriguing dialogues and personalities. Working with the screen print process, using hand cut paper stencils, I like the immediacy of this technique and how the cutting and tearing of the stencils creates a dynamic energy to the prints. I also experiment with woodblock printing, exploring bold simple forms that emphasize the unique textural qualities of the wood.
