Laura Boswell

I work exclusively with Japanese woodblock printing and linocut and my time printmaking in Japan has a profound effect on my work both in approach and technique. My woodblock printmaking and linocut printing continue to grow increasingly similar in appearance and I often use painted and drawn line directly onto both lino and wood for cutting. I print with multiple layers of very scanty colour, often wiping and mixing colours on the block as I print. My latest work explores the structure of hills and mountains, ideas of scale and distance, and the fleeting nature of weather and light.
