“My work focuses on landscape in the UK and Japan where I studied watercolour woodblock printing. My interest lies in pattern and form within landscape and by light, weather and seasonality. I hope to leave the viewer with a feeling of the familiar or remembered rather than a specific geography. My approach is to begin with observational drawings and then adapt their various elements to fit my own construct. My current approach reflects my love of texture in a painterly approach to inking the block, often resulting in editions where cut marks are identical, yet every print is subtly unique”
