Laine constructs dynamic, improvisatory artworks using paint and screen-print processes, transforming hard edged shapes into something with depth and luminosity. She overworks and overprints geometric or linear shapes with collage, paint or mono-print processes, so they appear suspended in space, transforming hard edged shapes into something with depth and luminosity. “The use of bold colour and form is vital to the sense of energy and dynamism I’m working to create. I’ve been a practicing printmaker for over forty years, but recently I’ve been merging it with different disciplines. The powerful use of colour and expressive gesture produce artworks that evoke positive feelings and emotions in the viewer. My recent unique prints are a response to everything I love; music, dance, the natural world, or simply the joy of being.”
