Jenny Martin
My work is predominantly about the things I love: colour, pattern, beautiful objects, textiles, quirky shops, gardening, and making things. I started printmaking after leaving Edinburgh College of Art in 1998, where I studied painting. I went to Edinburgh Printmakers and was drawn to screen-printing, attracted by the possibilities of layering colour, drawn marks and found textures. During the pandemic, unable to visit the workshop, I began using linocut in my studio, experimenting with bolder shapes and abstracted patterns. Now I print in both media, exploring objects I have collected, found or inherited from my family, to create bold, graphic prints.
