Babs Pease
I work mostly as a relief printer, hand carving and printing lino to create delicate single or multi-coloured limited edition prints. Working in a studio converted from an old cowshed on a small farm north of Edinburgh, it is the beautiful flora and fauna of the surrounding countryside that are the main inspirations for my prints. Most of my ideas start out as sketches made on my long rambles in Perthshire or on the coastal paths of Fife. I usually have a rough idea of the overall design but like to draw directly onto the lino which helps to maintain a sense of movement and vitality. By using thin layers of overlaid ink, my aim is to create luminous translucent prints.
