I am fascinated by the different atmospheres that light creates in our environment. My subject matter is usually quite ordinary but it’s the effect that light has within these spaces that captures my attention. I find it interesting to see light changing the unremarkable to the remarkable, revealing hidden details. I specialise in copperplate etching, using wax resist on aquatint. I rarely work with line, but use tonal etching techniques that focus on the image highlights. My colour palette is relatively subdued and I choose spaces that do not include the human figure, to maintain the stillness of the composition.
