Printfest is often asked where there are printmaking courses in Cumbria and the North. There are many wonderful Print Studios that offer workshops and courses, so we have decided that we should publish what we can find.

Cumbria

Print Share ~ Ulverston ~ New, collaboratively run Printmaking Group who meet once a month to share ideas, materials and equipment. Tutored full day printmaking course every three months to explore different printmaking techniques. Membership open to all levels of experience. Rheged Centre ~ Penrith ~ Print Workshops; 3rd/10th February ~ These workshops have been created to run alongside The Great Print Exhibition which opened 17th November and runs to 18th February 2018. The workshops include relief printing techniques with Karen Babayan, and wood block, chine collé and drypoint printmaking with Joanna Bourne (a regular Printfest exhibitor). Art lab Contemporary Print Studios (CPS) ~ Preston ~ CPS is a practice based research unit housed within the University of Central Lancashire where printmaking connects with other creative disciplines and discourses. The well equipped studios provides a creative space and professional expertise for artists to develop projects where printmaking is an essential element. The unit is led by two experienced artist-researchers, Magda Stawarska-Beavan and Tracy Hill who use printmaking as a significant element of their practice. Hot Bed Press ~ Salford ~ A large open access workshop with facilities for screenprint, etching, relief printing, letterpress and book arts. A wide variety of one day, evening, weekend and year-long courses.
